Meet the Founders

Michel Jacquemai
Co-Founder and CEO
Michel is a Swiss national and has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry. He holds an Economics and Business Administration (HWV) degree from Lucerne University, is a Certified European Financial Analyst (AZEK) and is a Commodity Trading Advisor & Commodity Pool Operator, Series 3 (NFA). He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Board of Directors from Hochschule Luzern (HSLU). Michel enjoyed a highly successful career in the asset management industry with a focus on alternative investments, including hedge fund investment strategies. Together with his former professional colleague Dr. Lars Jaeger, he pioneered the concept of hedge funds return replication (alternative beta) in the early 2000 and co-authored an academic paper in the ‘Journal of Alternative Investments’ for a passive Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) Index. Michel published many newspaper articles and was featured in the Financial Times, The Times, and Barron’s, amongst others. He started his professional banking career in the credit department of UBS Switzerland. In 1993, Michel joined OZ Zurich Options & Futures AG, the derivative arm of BZ Bank Zurich AG, initially as the interim CFO, then as an equity options trader. With the desire to manage clients’ products, he moved to Credit Suisse Asset Management Zurich in 1995 as a derivative and fund of hedge funds product and portfolio manager. During these years, he invested in dozens and interviewed hundreds of hedge fund manager in the U.S., Europe and Japan. During his tenure, assets grew from $100 million to almost $900 million. In 2000, he co-founded his own ‘fund of hedge funds’ company with Dr. Jaeger and raised a first $30 million fund for a Swiss private bank. To leverage the business, he sold the company in December 2001 to private equity giant Partners Group (PG) in Zug, Switzerland. He became an equity partner, the head of the Public Market division and a member of the Executive Board. Under his leadership, assets grew from $30 million to $3 billion. In 2014 he co-founded meetinvest, a pioneering company that developed the world’s first single-stock, expert-based, algorithm-driven stock screening tool. This innovative platform enables users to invest like the world’s top 30 stock market legends. After years of rigorous research, he co-founded Delbert Capital Management AG, securing regulatory approval as a portfolio manager from Swiss FINMA in late 2021. The firm is committed to delivering innovative investment strategies that leverage structural advantages, drawing upon predictable and recurring patterns in human behaviour. Michel also remains a passionate supporter of EVZ, Zug’s National League Ice Hockey team, and actively enjoys playing senior ice hockey with a team. Additionally, he holds a private pilot license (PPL/A) with an aerobatics rating, showcasing his enthusiasm for both sports and aviation.

Maria Valentina Jacquemai
Co-Founder and COO
Maria is a Swiss and Spanish national, born and raised in Germany, with a distinguished career spanning over 27 years in Europe and the United States. She is a native speaker of German and Spanish and is fluent in English and Dutch. She has extensive experience as a journalist, senior and executive producer, and is a communications professional at the executive board level, with a successful track record in managing large-scale projects and campaigns. Maria’s career achievements and leadership expertise make her a sought-after professional in journalism, communications, and investment strategy. She has also been live interviewed on BBC Evening News, further showcasing her expertise and credibility in her fields of work. Maria began her career in national television, working for leading German broadcasters such as RTL, ARD, and ZDF. As a producer in Cologne and Frankfurt, and later as a bureau manager and senior producer in New York as an NYPD and United Nations-accredited producer and journalist, she covered some of the most significant events of our time. Her reporting portfolio includes the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and their anniversaries, for which the team received an International Emmy Award for the coverage, multiple hurricanes (including Katrina and Wilma), the NASA Columbia crash, the Northeast blackout, the Michael Jackson trial, and covering the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration as a White House producer. She also provided on-site coverage of major political and entertainment events, such as presidential elections, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s election, the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards (Oscars), and the Grammys. Maria has produced and conducted interviews with high-profile figures, including Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brad Pitt, Robert DeNiro, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Antonio Banderas, Jennifer Lopez, Ethan Hawke, Diane Kruger, Wolfgang Petersen, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Keanu Reeves, and Tom Cruise. After five years in the United States, Maria returned to Europe and joined Mostra in Brussels as a senior communications specialist. She led European, multi-million-euro campaigns on behalf of the European Commission, European Parliament, and European Council, collaborating with prestigious partners such as MTV, BBC, and National Geographic. Several films produced through these campaigns received awards at the prestigious Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards. Her exceptional work at ICF Mostra earned her a position on the company’s executive board, where she served as Director of Media, Stakeholder Management, and Events. In this role, Maria successfully established and managed various internal departments. Following the acquisition of Mostra by US-based ICF International, Maria relocated to Switzerland and co-founded meetinvest in 2014, a pioneering company that developed the world’s first single-stock, expert-based, algorithm-driven stock screening tool. This innovative platform enables users to invest like the world’s top 30 stock market legends.
